In this project, we took a previous project that reworked on and tried to make a better version. As a way to come full circle, my group built another rube goldberg machine. We designed it more elegantly than the first with a simple and obvious theme, graduation. Unlike our first machine, this one completed multiple tasks, namely pulling a sign down and popping a party popper.
This project was extremely fun to do because we were able to choose who we worked with. Because of this, our group was able to work extremely well with one another, and we had no disagreements. The only difficulties with this project stemmed from the timing, as we only had eight days to complete it. The first problem, which we soon diminished, was how to make the machine better than our first, as that was the goal of the project. We decided that better didn't always mean more steps and more complications. Often, better things are actually less complex. To fix our problem, we included two different ideas on the finished project of the machine, and focused on getting those tasks done as simply and elegantly as possible. The only other problem we had was with our presentation. Because we were so focused on the machine itself, we forgot about the fact that we actually had to show it off to people. We ended up working really hard right before the project was due to finish the presentation. However, the rest of the project went very well. Our group worked extremely well, and we got the machine to work much more efficiently and consistently than almost any previous project.
