For this project, we looked at world wide issues and selected one that we wanted to focus on. Our group chose America's industrial animal farming operations, Although at first glance, this may not seem like an extreme problem, and while it may not be as concerning as starvation in Africa, through research, we found that the waste created by these corporations are actually extremely detrimental. Not only do they harm the animals, but also the people. The meat from these animals can be harmful for human consumption. The excrement from these animals can infect water sources, which harms the people around the farms. These farms also use insane amounts of water to clean up the feces, which adds to state-wide droughts. Animals are administered drugs to help them survive the terrible environment, which only adds to the unhealthiness of meat. The only struggles in this project was finding a single issue to focus on within the larger scene of factory farms. It was difficult to ignore the animal cruelty aspects, and only try to find a solution for both animals and farmers alike.
